New Lessons in Life

This Wednesday Theresa (my sponsor and the patience of a saint) and I went to Wythesville Va to meet the new H&GP President Heather Chastain (she has the best soap opera name ever).

To me this was a really big deal. When I first joined in April I was able to met Barb Fishpaw, had no idea who she was, what a great woman she is in the company and I kinda made a fool of myself and boldly informed her I don't like hugs. I am a personal space person. Them hug lovin' designers at the meeting were weirding me out. Later on I got an idea on who she is. Barb leads the #1 team of the company, she travels to give training at H&GP seminars, and is a top seller herself. Here is the real clincher, she built a beautiful home from the money earned working for H&GP. Now these results are not typical and you really have to give credit to the woman herself for taking a direct sales job and using it to really bless her and her family. But wow the possibility, and I told her not to hug me.

So here is the chance of redemption. Now another reason why this is the big deal. I have been with the company for 5 months! Just 5 and I get to meet the new president. I felt like a little kid and I wanted to stick my tongue out and say "nay nay nay nay!!" So far my chance for redemption has gotten slimmer.

Now I also decided to wear my red sparkle shoes. I bought some cheap pleather red shoes, brushed craft glue on and sprinkled red glitter all over them (I fixed them up for the movie theme party) and I love these shoes! On the down side I leave a trail of red glitter everywhere. Encase I got lost Theresa could just follow the trail to relocate me. So now I have some kind of borderline crazed fan complex and I am leaving a glitter trail like a woodland fairy. Redemption chance much slimmer.

So finally we get to the meeting. Heather was great, she has a lot of good ideas, ones that will help the company and I think she can do it with out too much commotion. It is a risk bringing in a new guy. New guys have a mountain of ideas and a set way of doing things and it could be very confusing, but I see this change as coming as smooth as possible and to be highly beneficial. The talked leaned more to the sponsoring side of the business and some towards increasing personal designer income. By that part of the meeting I have a lot of respect for Heather; crazed fan complex is being tamed and redemption chance is increased!!

We took a break and I located the coffee!! By now I don't care who I met I have coffee, the cup is warming my hands, the half and half has made that lovely milk chocolate color while it blends with the coffee, and I am feeling good. Another designer is getting her cup and we start chatting. I don't know when Heather's husband arrived and for how long he was there. So I am having some girl talk....now grown up talk to anyone just makes my day. I have four kids, I stay home, and talking to some one who can cut their own meat is wonderful. So I make the comment of RV travel and various cultures of the great country we are in. ". . . when you travel with an RV in the north you are vagabonds, out west gypsies but here in the south you are one high class redneck!"

At that moment Heather's husband comes in to my line of sight and I am well with in ear shot of him. He gives me a look, a smirk and goes "yup". Chance of redemption has crashed, burned, and there are no survivors.

Imagine the story in the RV. "Some woman leaving a red glitter trail called us rednecks."
